Wii Profits up!

It looks like the Wii’s profits are up to around 120 percent and they indicate that they will ship a total of 177 million units during 2009. It looks as though they may be running a strong long fight but there is indication on the PS3 front that they may be overtaking the Xbox 360 sales especially if rumored Xbox 360 rumors are true referring to a new xbox coming out in late 2009.

New Wii Game: Space Invaders Get Even

It looks like a new space invaders game is being set to launch for the Wii. The game is called “Space Invaders Get Even” and its the aliens perspective of world destruction. You take on the invaders and run amok in 3-d worlds. The UFO is controlled through the nunchuck and the Remote can control the 300 plus invaders. There are only few screen shots of the game shown but from what we can see, it looks like a keeper! Or at the least, it will stir up disturbing memories of your own alien encounter.

Apparently Wii makes the most ridiculous games in the world. Why in gods name is there a new game coming out called All-Star Cheerleader for the Wii. Are they joking? I think that the Wii has gone to the dogs in regards to making the most ridiculous games in the world. Just because you have the wiimote does NOT mean you should use it for every sort of flip, move, or wrist turn possible. Is it so hard to go back to making games that are good? I know that they maaaaaaaay be trying out a new genre but this gamer says enough is enough! We are sick of these obtuse games.

Console Sales

Sorry guys about the late post. I have been in super duper busyness and it has ended up with me not being active as much I had wanted to be. The sales of the consoles were a bit surprising to say the least. I looked over the console war consort and I found that, as usual, the Wii has sold 274K consoles. Here is some even more shocking news. The second place console was the PS3 by 252K consoles. That means the xbox 360 sold 229k consoles. This is great news for the ps3 since it was having a difficult time selling consoles in the US. lets see how this pans out overall.

EA Predictions

EA has some new numbers predicting the console wars and how it will play out in the 2008 fiscal year. They initially stated that they feel that the Wii and DS will continue to grow the strongest in the market and most of us say “D’uh”. There was a difference in opinion, however, on the current market trend. They state that overall the PS3 will dominate the xbox 360 this year which is an interesting prediction considering that they are tied in the market today. The prediction they made was that it will outsell the xbox 2 or 3:1 in Europe alone. That is a huge prediction considering the PS3 dominance in Japan. Lets see how well EA knows their own market.

Game Sales are Dominating Entertainment

Handheld games sold 2.0 billion

PC sold .9 Billion

Here is something interesting. You always hear that PC gaming is better than console gaming. I think if that were the case than the sales would prove it, no?

Wii Japanese Sales

It looks like the Wii in Japan has just toppled the 5 million console mark. That actually beat the PS2 66 week mark to hit the same sales. The good thing is that the sales are going strong in its home market which says a bit about the console and its productivity!

Wii slack for 2008?

The Wii certainly did a number on the game market. It destroyed numbers and consoles this year but there are two other consoles in the market that are still the powerhouse systems. So, when the analyst Michael Pachter looked to 2008, what did he think will dominate the market? His answer: the PS3. Yes, he believes that the PS3 will blow out both the xbox 360 AND the Wii in sales this year. If you agree with him or not, you have to give it to him to be on the ball. His concern is that the PS3 will dominate the other two consoles in the amount of software that it will have along with a price drop which should put it in a price range that everyone can afford. He did not mention the blu-ray playability which, in my opinion, will also sky rocket the sales of the PS3. Lets see how it goes.

Wii has Re/won Japanese Market…But has PS3 Gained Momentum?

It looks like the Wii has shifted gears back up to first place in Japan in front of the PS3. I think that was to be expected once we found out that the Wii started to add more Wii’s to the market. Here is the trend I have been noticing though. It seems like the tide is indeed switching for the PS3. The first reason is due to the HD DVD loss of Warner Bros to Blu Ray. This makes me think that people will start to buy the PS3 for the blu ray capability. Secondly, I see a huge amount of xbox 360 owners starting to save up for a PS3. The main reason? Because there are an insane amount of games that are dropping for the PS3 this year and the reliability of their console has been nothing short of shoddy. Lastly, when we talk about game consoles, I think that the Wii caters to a new type of player. I and others that I know, find it increasingly difficult to play the Wii as the new game system. Most of us use it for parties and it seems to work well for that. It by no means will replace my existing system. In fact, I think many people get a Wii + another console (either a PS3 or xbox 360) to fulfill their gaming needs. Lastly, we are starting to see a decline of PS2 sales and I think that now people will start to switch over to HD gaming and the newer consoles.

I wanted to thank all of my readers for increasing my blogs potential and helping me know that I am loved! I LOVE YOU TOO! So, in an effort to expand our ever expanding entertainment market (of course gaming), I would like to extend a warm wish for everyone in the new year and say to all of you…keep playing! This upcoming year is huge for gaming and I will have to say that many of our old gen fans will be looking to move over to the next gen category. Also, there are an insane load of games that will drop this year.
