Game Sales are Dominating Entertainment

I wonder why?  Probably because they are better! Check out the new sales of video games:

Console games sold 6.6 billion

Handheld games sold 2.0 billion

PC sold .9 Billion

Here is something interesting.  You always hear that PC gaming is better than console gaming.  I think if that were the case than the sales would prove it, no?

Auto Stuff

One of my good friends was looking to throw a PS3 in his car but had a problem because he couldn’t find a good place to buy auto accessories. I gave him a few places and he found an awesome place where they sold all kinds of auto truck stuff for great prices which he could use in his crazy projects. I told him good luck and he’s insane for putting a 400 dollar machine in his truck.

Battlefield In Bad Company!!

Horrible and Horrors around! Okay, its not too bad but it still stinks.  It looks like they are pushing back battlefield to late 2008.  The reason?  Unknown.  Perhaps EA couldn’t keep their side of their promise and keep the PS3 version over 60 fps?  Perhaps they needed more room and they couldn’t fit the whole game on the 360.  Perhaps they tried to make the Wii version and the Wii died in their arms….tonight…Whatever the reason, its backed up.

Wii Japanese Sales

It looks like the Wii in Japan has just toppled the 5 million console mark.   That actually beat the PS2 66 week mark to hit the same sales.  The good thing is that the sales are going strong in its home market which says a bit about the console and its productivity!

Backgammon Online

I was recently in the mood to play backgammon.  I have to admit, the game isn’t what we would consider the new super high tech games that we know and love but we cant fight old school games because they put us where we are today. I also am a bit partial to backgammon because I used to play it back when I was younger with one of my neighbors.  As wild as it sounds, she was about 50 or 60 and she would have the kids from the other apartments come to her house and we would play backgammon with her.  This was prior to when we thought everyone was a nut case and it wouldn’t be okay for kids to go into someone else’s house.  Perhaps we have gone crazy as a society BUT I digress.  So I was thinking that it would be a great idea to play some backgammon games but since we are in the digital age and my site is all about electronic games, what would be more fitting than playing it on the computer online?  I will answer that…NOTHING!  That would be perfect!  I did my searching and I found a great place to play online backgammon.  Now not only can I play this game that love but I can visualize someone else online being that sweet old lady that used to play backgammon with me and taught me about the spirit of the 40s.  Oh the things she would say!  I also learned many words that were considered “bad” at that time which are fine now.  The great part about the backgammon website is that they had some tutorials for people who are completely new or used to play but completely forgot like myself.  I had a wonderful time and I have it saved so that if the urge comes back (which I know it will) I will know where to go for that “comfort zone”.

Wii slack for 2008?

The Wii certainly did a number on the game market.  It destroyed numbers and consoles this year but there are two other consoles in the market that are still the powerhouse systems.  So, when the analyst Michael Pachter looked to 2008, what did he think will dominate the market?  His answer: the PS3.  Yes, he believes that the PS3 will blow out both the xbox 360 AND the Wii in sales this year.  If you agree with him or not, you have to give it to him to be on the ball.  His concern is that the PS3 will dominate the other two consoles in the amount of software that it will have along with a price drop which should put it in a price range that everyone can afford.  He did not mention the blu-ray playability which, in my opinion, will also sky rocket the sales of the PS3.  Lets see how it goes.

A Fiber Optic Network

One of my good friends just purchased a fiber optic network card. He had no idea what he had got himself into. I told him about the quickness of the fiber optic channel and he went nuts. He wanted to build a internal optical network at his work with 15 users. I know…what a waste! But, he said its for the future. That makes sense so I showed him a great place for him to purchase fiber optic cables. He seems happy with his new network and speed.

Microsoft Turn To BluRay?

According to some inside Xbox 360 folks, the 360 may develop some Blu-ray external drives if it so happens that Blu-ray starts buildin billions.  Microsoft did speak to Reuters about it and how it is directly a consumer market.  They stated that they will consider it if the consumer thinks so.  The console has even stated that that in the future they will consider putting HD-DVD drives in 360’s although this blogger thinks there insane and that will be a bigger flop than the first 100K 360’s that all failed due to the red ring of death.  Okay, okay…that was a low blow.  Microsoft also stated that they are currently supporting HD-DVD and feel that its the product for consumers today.  Thanks Microsoft for telling us that its a consumer market and forcing the HD-DVD on the 360 EVEN THOUGH it is now pretty much an over war.

Looking For A TV Lift

One of my good friends just recently purchased a LCD TV. He has a PS3 in the room and this essentially finished the “lineup”.  I know, I was jealous too!  Its also an awesome idea for anyone looking to put a game system in the room.  He was in love with the tv but he needed a tv lift and wanted me to help him find it. I did a bit of searching and, at first, it was a bit difficult to find one. After I did some extensive searching I found a great place for him to buy affordable TV lifts. He now has his freakishly huge 52 inch LCD screen in his bedroom and it looks nothing short of superb. The quality of the wood is also incredible. The website even provides just the lift if you want to mount it or install it into your own furniture.

Wii has Re/won Japanese Market…But has PS3 Gained Momentum?

It looks like the Wii has shifted gears back up to first place in Japan in front of the PS3. I think that was to be expected once we found out that the Wii started to add more Wii’s to the market. Here is the trend I have been noticing though. It seems like the tide is indeed switching for the PS3. The first reason is due to the HD DVD loss of Warner Bros to Blu Ray. This makes me think that people will start to buy the PS3 for the blu ray capability.  Secondly, I see a huge amount of xbox 360 owners starting to save up for a PS3.  The main reason?  Because there are an insane amount of games that are dropping for the PS3 this year and the reliability of their console has been nothing short of shoddy.  Lastly, when we talk about game consoles, I think that the Wii caters to a new type of player.  I and others that I know, find it increasingly difficult to play the Wii as the new game system.  Most of us use it for parties and it seems to work well for that.  It by no means will replace my existing system.  In fact, I think many people get a Wii + another console (either a PS3 or xbox 360) to fulfill their gaming needs.  Lastly, we are starting to see a decline of PS2 sales and I think that now people will start to switch over to HD gaming and the newer consoles.
